2021 Hans Estate 'Cask' Syrah

Vineyard Source: Hans Estate Vineyard, East Bench, Osoyoos - a 16-acre site planted in 2001 and farmed with care (and a touch of stubbornness) by the Hans family: Harry, Kulbir, and son Balkar.

Winemaking: 34 months in a single cask, small batch. Cold soak, 20% carbonic maceration

Nose: Wild blueberries and blackberries, iris, tar

Taste: Leather, bright fruity notes, smoke

Vintage: 2021, known for extreme heat and drought conditions alongside smoke from wildfires. Early bud break and 'heat dome' year, temperatures nearly reaching 50 degrees Celsius June and July. Lower yields but high concentration of flavours.
